High Performance Training and Racing in Small Boats
Riverside Boat Club has organized training camps for rowers
from all disciplines for over a decade. We take pride in the fact
the RBC athletes have performed well in elite competition and
have had the honor of representing their country at the World
Championships, Pan American, and Olympic Games.
Today we offer a year-round training opportunity for athletes.
We work with all kinds: lightweight, heavyweight, men and
women. We focus on training in small boats: singles, doubles,
pairs, quads and fours. We believe that training and competing
in small team boats and single sculls is how the individual athlete
best learns how to row at a high skill level. Since 2000,
Riverside has sent a single, a double, two pairs, a quad, and two
eights to the world championships. Other athletes have rowed
for the US as part of fours, quads and eights based out of the
National Team Training Centers, as well as Vesper and Potomac
Boat Clubs.
Our Standards
Athletes are expected to be independent and responsible. RBC
prides itself on an athlete pool that varies in age and professional
development. Initial acceptance and continued participation
in the group are based on a high level of day-to-day performance
and commitment. Performance standards include on-the water
time trials in singles or pairs, ergometer scores, and regatta
results.
Applicants should be competitive in the appropriate ergometer
range:

HW Men 6:05 20:00
LW Men 6:25 20:45
HW Women 7:05 22:40
