High Performance Training and Racing in Small Boats
Riverside Boat Club takes pride in the fact that RBC athletes have
performed well in elite competition and have had the honor of representing
their country at the World Championships, Pan American, and Olympic
Games. As members of both lightweight and open weight national team
crews RBC women have rowed in quads, eights, fours and the single.
This past year, two lightweight athletes medaled at the world
championship and one open weight woman moved on to train at the
national training center.
Riverside offers a year-round training opportunity, the High
Performance Group, for athletes aiming to represent the US in
international competition. On the women's side we work with both open
and lightweight athletes.Training is focused on small boats. We believe
that training and competing in small team boats and single sculls is how
the individual athlete best learns the skills for success on the national and
international stages of competition.
Our Standards
Athletes are expected to be independent and responsible. RBC prides
itself on an athlete pool that varies in age and development.Initial
acceptance and continued participation in the group are based on a high
level of day-to-day performance and commitment.
Performance standards include on-the-water time trials in singles or pairs,
ergometer scores, and regatta results.Applicants should be competitive
in the appropriate ergometer range*:
