Riverside hosts two regattas each year, the
Riverside Sprints in mid-May and the Cromwell Cup in mid-July. Over the last few
years, these regattas have grown significantly in popularity (i.e. size and complexity),
requiring many volunteered hours to prepare and run. Indeed, beginning in 1998 the
club instituted a requirement that all RBC members be limited to competing in only one
event in each of these regattas and, if competing, be required to volunteer their time
during the rest of the day to help run the regatta. Regattas are very important to
Riverside, both from a revenue standpoint and from a rowing-community-relations
standpoint. |
