about our coach
Sarah Maietta
Coach Sarah began rowing at Wayland-Weston in 2012, after competing in figure skating since elementary school. At Wayland-Weston she discovered the wonders of rowing on the Charles River when she began competing at the Head of the Charles her sophomore year. Following high school rowing, Sarah continued her career at Boston University, where she rowed all four years on the lightweight team while studying International Relations. She also medaled at the U23 World Rowing Championships in the LW2- in 2018 (gold) and 2019 (silver). After graduating in 2020, Sarah has continued her connection to the rowing community through coaching at Wayland-Weston, The Winsor School, and Sarasota Crew. Her post-collegiate rowing has taken her to the 2022 World Championships in the LW4x, and she continues to enjoy racing every year at the Head of the Charles.
Coach Sarah's goal for all Riverside Juniors is that the athletes hold themselves to a high standard for technique and personal conduct, while also enjoying the sport so much that practice becomes a highlight of their day. Through coaching, Sarah aims to create skilled, strong, students of the sport who are motivated to continue giving back to the rowing community even after they graduate from Junior Stripes.
OFF Hours Policy
Scheduled appointments are required for meetings at the boathouse. We are a private club and ask that you do not show up without a scheduled meeting with a coach or member.
