RBC MASTERS COACH
Reports to: President of Riverside Boatclub, Inc.
The Riverside Masters Program, based in Cambridge, Mass., is looking for a new coach. Our team consists of a roster of 28 men and women who compete regionally, nationally and internationally. The team has had considerable success and routinely medals at Masters Nationals, Canadian Henley, Masters Worlds and Head of the Charles. The team practices and races in straight and coxed sweep boats as well as doubles and quads. The coach is responsible for directing and operating all aspects of the program under the supervision of the President. The coach will develop a training plan that runs from April 1st through Head of the Charles, with optional workouts for the fall and winter seasons. A minimum of 3 on-water sessions per week are expected.
REQUIREMENTS
Competitive rowing (sweep/scull) experience.
Previous experience coaching competitive masters rowing athletes.
Strong organizational and communication skills to balance multiple training and racing goals and handle multiple boats on the water.
Ability to be flexible, communicate, and work well with other coaches, members of the Board of Directors, team captains, and members generally.
Understanding of Riverside expectations and culture.
Knowledge of Riverside rules and policies.
Knowledge of Charles River Traffic Rules.
Ability to set up and operate a coaching launch.
Ability to swim.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Coaching in inclement and extreme hot and cold weather using personal weather gear.
SAFETY HAZARDS
Coaching in inclement weather, extreme hot and cold weather and in low-light and dark conditions.
Launch preparation and use, including but not limited to lifting and carrying of gas cans.
Boat and other watercraft traffic.
Floating, submerged and partially-submerged debris.
