Four Oar / Cold Weather -- Effective Immediately

So, this is a unique year and we cannot go to our traditional four oar system. We are going to use the combo of water and air temps being 100 degrees to evaluate if cold-weather rules will apply for rowing. We will use weather.com for the low air temp and the MIT Sailing Pavilion Temp for the river temp.

The captain will check forecasts on Sundays and use that number for the week.

All club boats (excluding doubles): You must row with a buddy if the air and water is at or below 100 degrees. The two boats must be within 2 lengths for the entire row. I encourage those going out to have a PFD on or in their boat.

Gigs: No gigs or peinerts are allowed out if the low for the day and the water are under 100 degrees. If the combo is above, the new four oar rule applies.

Private boats: No changes to normal policy. Please be smart as it gets colder. I encourage you to avoid rowing by yourself.

Fluids

Both Fluids will be returning to Fluid on Friday, October 30. These will be removed from the reservation schedule after the morning session.

Captain Tests

We will no longer conduct tests this year. Testing will return by April 1 or when the weather allows.

Winter

At this time, we are not planning on opening for any indoor workouts. This includes the use of weights. We will be lending ergs and erg bikes again. Please fill out this survey by EOD Saturday, November 1 if you would like to be added to the list. If demand exceeds supply, we will select by lottery. Email/phone/text requests will not be accepted.
